The topic of Bulgarian castles, palaces, fortresses, fortifications, strongholds and keeps is a very underestimated and neglected subject.
More likely the reason is hidden in the fact, that many of them were demolished during the Ottoman yolk. From what remains of these structures, not too many are in good condition nowadays and in fact only one (Baba Vida) remains in a habitable state.
The purpose of this internet site is to collect, systematize and popularize information about this romantic aspect of the Bulgarian history. The site soon will be available in English and French, which I hope, will help to raise the interest for the Bulgarian historical heritage in another countries.
